happy thanksgiving

It's a busy week working and getting ready for Thanksgiving. I'm making a couple of things including a yummy sausage apple stuffing, and doing flowers/decor for our family party. I'm loving this simple, mixed arrangement for inspiration. Happy Thanksgiving all! :)

khloe at christmas

Khloe's first christmas was so fun...maybe a little too much fun for me when I dressed her up in this faux fur headband:

And the leopard booties I got her...PERFECTION! So mad they don't come in my size.

babyGap

I was shopping in babyGap this weekend for my adorable niece, Khloe, and almost died at how freaking cute and fashionable the clothes are (especially for baby girls). This little legging with tulle skirt overlay is one of my faves:

happy holidays {lonny style}

The holiday edition of Lonny came out this week and I'm crazy over interior designer Eileen Kathryn Boyd's Long Island home. I love how she's mixed pink and chartreuse instead of standard holiday red and green - it's unexpected and super chic.

my patrick

He would probably kill me if he knew I was writing about him (shhh!) but since today is St. Patrick's Day I just want to say how thankful I am for the Irish boy in my life. He's so wonderful and supportive - even when I'm having an Annette Benning moment from Running With Scissors - which seems to be more and more often lately. I'm a lucky girl. Have a beautiful (and green!) St. Patrick's Day.

bellevue {snow}

chic eco-wrapping

Christmas is over (sad face) but I love this as wrapping inspiration for next year! Can be easily done with recycled paper, garden twine and twigs/cones found around the yard.

holiday flowers

I used a few red and white stems plus some holly, evergreen and pine branches from the yard to add a little festiveness to the house...

christmas salad

Christmas was so much fun and I'm sad that it's over. Here's the recipe for a salad that I made and can't stop thinking about (sorry, no pics!).

apple walnut salad with cranberry vinaigrette

dressing: simmer 1/4 cup dried cranberries with 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar, 1 tablespoon dijon mustard and 1 tablespoon white sugar for 10 minutes. remove from heat and strain. {note this is the part where I strained half the dressing down the drain so make sure you strain the dressing into a bowl, not the sink!!! I subbed in a little apple cider vinegar to fix this}. when cool, hand whisk in 3/4 cup vegetable oil, 1/3 cup finely chopped red onion and a pinch of salt and pepper.

salad: toast 1/2 cup walnuts and set aside to cool. in a large bowl add 5 cups mixed greens and 5 cups baby spinach. add 2 large red delicious apples (cored, thinly sliced and drizzled with lemon to prevent browning), toasted walnuts, 1/3 cup dried cranberries and 1/4 cup crumbled feta to greens. drizzle with dressing and toss. serve immediately.

have a wonderful holiday!

An oldie but a goodie. Nearly 20 years later our tree is in the same exact spot. Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas! See you next week...
