atlanta in the summertime

i'm leaving for atlanta tomorrow to visit my parents and sister and this will be my second time in atlanta. the first visit i had was all about the restaurants and scenery close to my parents' apartment in midtown (very cool area) but this time i'd like to be able to check out some cute boutiques and see how the style differs from boston. and of course, i cannot miss an opportunity to visit piedmont park (literally next door to my parents' apartment) and its amazing dog park.

room of the day {patio love}

Even though the weather in Boston lately has been tolerable at best, summer is (supposedly) right around the corner, and I can't stop obsessing over gorgeous outdoor spaces. This patio, designed and owned by Sabrina Linn (who I was reintroduced to via Mimi+Meg earlier this week), was featured in House & Home a few years ago and is entertainment perfection for a single girl like me.

I also love the classic design of Sabrina's website (and the rest of her penthouse loft is to die for too!)

{outdoor} room of the day

By day - a good book and mint-raspberry iced tea. By night - friends, candlelight and cocktails...

{outdoor} room of the day

The clean and neutral palette (side note: I would have chosen prettier pillows) in this outdoor space allows the kick ass landscape to take center stage. I could spend more than a few days here.

{outdoor} room of the day

This is the incredible patio of Celerie Kemble's 27th-floor apartment on Central Park South in NYC. Not only does it overlook the park, it's like a secret garden oasis floating in the sky. F-ing incredible, right?

happy monday!

Although the official start of fall isn't until this Wednesday, we've already had several of the cool, yet sunny days that make fall the perfect season in New England. I'm still sad that summer is over, but I think I'm finally ready to embrace fall and all the deliciousness (and sweaters, boots, blazers, etc. :) that comes with it.

designer {krista ewart}

Yesterday I shared a mini home tour of a California beach house designed by Krista Ewart. Afterwards I decided to visit her website and fell in love with her style - casual and colorful, with just the right amount of glamour. Here's a peek at her work:

portfolio peek {thom filicia}

I was flipping through old Domino's this weekend and stopped short (again) at Thom Filicia's lakeside cabin featured in the August 2008 issue (kitchen image below). Thom is highly recognized for his time spent on Queer Eye for the Straight Guy as well as for his residential projects and the multiple W hotels he has designed (last image below). His home collection is pretty fab - I'm especially loving his new indoor rugs. Here's a quick peek at some images from his portfolio:

an outdoor room

We have a tiny shared patio space in the back of our apartment where we keep our grill and a small table and chairs. I haven't been able to put much work/money into it, but I would love to get some potted plants and lanterns so that we can enjoy coffee out there on the weekends or cocktails at night. I can't wait for the day when we have our own house with a huge deck/porch where I can design the most beautiful outdoor room. For now I pulled together a few pretty outdoor pieces, inspired by this gorgeous image (left) from the recent Lonny.

some serious eye candy {lonny V}

Is it just me or does Lonny get better and better with each issue? There is so much inspiration in Lonny V that I couldn't possibly share it all here - instead I've tried pulling together a few of my favorites. All images by Patrick Cline for Lonny Magazine.
