home tour {christopher + suzanne sharp}

I love Vogue (there's just something so classic about it) and have stacks of old issues in my office. I really love when Vogue does a home feature (especially since we don't have a Vogue Living counterpart here in America) and this month it's Christopher and Suzanne Sharp, London transplants who are fearless when it comes to color. Christopher and Suzanne are the founders/owners of the Rug Company so many of the rugs in their home are of their own design or antiques that they have picked up in their travels. I especially like the 'Tracery' rug in the dining room (a design by Kelly Wearstler for the Rug Company). It has so much movement, but is very neutral in color, so I could see it working in many different spaces.

effortless style

carine roitfield, editor-in-chief of paris vogue, always takes risks and has a fierce sense of fashion. although her choices are not always mainstream, she never looks as if her clothes are wearing her and she is a great style icon to look to for interpretations on trends and style.

fashion is a religion...this is the bible

the september issue comes out on dvd this tuesday, february 23!! i am so excited to see this documentary, which has been referred to by vanity fair as "the real devil wears prada." the september issue is about anna wintour and the making of vogue's september issue, which is the biggest, most labor intensive issue of every year. this is the first time anyone has really been able to see the innerworkings of vogue and its creators.

super inexpensive art

Remember this? Well I finally gathered my favorites (Marc Jacobs ads ripped out of Vogue) and used frames I already had to create a little 'fashion' art for my office.

parisian glamour

A reaffirmation of my love affair with Vogue. The spread (from the October issue) features model Karlie Kloss - wearing haute couture - and French tennis star Gael Monfils. Photographed in Paris by Arthur Elgort.

quote of the day

"fashion is so often presented in the culture as a thing of froth, which, of course, it partly is; but the bubbles are blown with care and a sense of values." - anna wintour

will you be seeing the september issue when it finally comes to theaters everywhere this friday??

fashion prints as art

I started a mini collection of Marc Jacobs print ads with the plan to one day frame and use them as inexpensive art in my bedroom or closet (if I ever have one big enough to be it's own space). His ads are typically very strange (and not necessarily pretty) but I was really drawn to the imagery created for his spring 2009 collection so I've saved them for now.

I also love the idea of framing vintage vogue covers...

And the fall/winter 2009 Chanel and Burberry ads are really stunning black and white images that I think would look fabulous together...

Or I think it would be fun to mix and match different sizes of vintage frames with colorful fashion ads such as these for Kate Spade and Bottega Veneta...
