Today is the 113th running of the
Boston Marathon and it got me thinking about what a great city we live in. I know I give it grief when we're dealing with 5 degree temperatures and 12+ inches of snow, but that is (hopefully) behind us for a few months.
Boston Common Coffee Co.
Those who know me know I have a "thing" for coffee. Lucky for me Boston Common's North End location is right outside my door. Not only does their yummy coffee give me more reason to stay away from the overdone coffee chains, they also have great bagels, muffin tops and paninis.
The
Boston Design Center offers 80 showrooms with over 1,200+ premium product lines. With choices in fabric, furniture, lighting, wall coverings, accessories, and antiques, it would take days to cover it all! The BDC is open to the trade only, however, they do offer design services to the public.
This 19th century downtown Boston neighborhood is so pretty and quaint its hard not to fall in love. Sandwiched between the Common and the North End, more than 10,000 Bostonians call the brick-lined streets of Beacon Hill home. Made up of beautiful row houses such as these shown above, the architecture includes the Federal, Greek Revival and Victorian periods. I particularly love Charles Street, which has over 40 antique shops and great eateries such as the
Upper Crust pizzeria and
King & I.
Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum
By far one of the most beautiful places to visit in Boston. "Years ago I decided that the greatest need in our Country was Art… We were a very young country and had very few opportunities of seeing beautiful things, works of art… So, I determined to make it my life's work if I could." - Isabella Stewart Gardner, on the creation of her Museum, 1917. And if your name is Isabella, you always get in free! Check out The Gardner Heist, which provides an interesting angle on the artworks that were stolen from the museum over 20 years ago.
Pats - Bruins - Red Sox - Celtics, we have it pretty sweet. But, yeah, I think Tom Brady would be reason enough.
