cocktail hour {hawaiian inspired}

I know I did tropical drinks last week, but we went to the UMass Club tonight for an open house and the theme was Hawaii. It reminded me of the booze cruise we used to go on when I lived in Oahu so I had to share a drink similar to what they served (and a picture too - Waikiki beach and Diamondhead in the background). The U Club called it the "Tiki Tiki Cocktail" and since I love bubbles I had them top mine off to create a "sparkling" version.

sparkling tiki tiki cocktail

- 1 oz coconut rum
- 1 oz vodka
- 1 oz pineapple juice
- 1/2 oz cranberry juice
- soda water and ice

Combine all in a cocktail shaker with ice. Strain into a large glass over ice and top with soda water. Serve with a pretty little umbrella and pineapple slice.

Oh how I miss Hawaii...

happy weekend!

The weekend weather forecast is hot and sunny so I'm thrilled to be heading down to the cape for some serious relaxation time. Sun + sand + water + yummy drinks = I'm a happy girl. Have fun and I'll see you next week!

back from hilton head!

SUCH a fun trip! Lots of swimming, tennis and golf. Now I'm busy packing up for a week in Maine. I'm hoping to find some vintage goodies for my house.. and to take tons of pictures of the pretty fall foliage. Will have my laptop so I'll be checking in!

friday morning at the beach

I went the long way to work this morning so that I could enjoy the pretty ocean views on Beach Road. It was such a nice morning (so rare this summer) that I decided last minute to park my car and walk down to the beach for a bit. The sun was warm on my face and the sand still a little damp between my toes - it was such a nice way to start the day. And a great thing about the Vineyard - no one cares when you show up to work 5 minutes late all sandy and windblown.

I would like to live here... please

the George Lawrence House, Nantucket MA
Built in 1786, this typical Nantucket house was renovated to included a cathedral ceilinged Garden Room, an Office overlooking the garden, a barn board sheathed mudroom and an open studded single car garage. The Garden Room is a spirited contrast to the original house with its tall beaded board wainscoting and cathedral beamed ceiling spilling out onto a garden terrace and under a vine covered pergola.
Sounds perfect, no?
