house beautiful {september 2010}

It's the last weekend in July - I can't believe it! We're heading to the Cape with friends and I can't wait to lounge in the sun, sip drinks, cook s'mores by the fire and relax. Here's a peek at HB's September issue to inspire a little color and creativity in your weekend. See you Monday!

Last, but not least, a fanciful tablescape

This is the first month in a while that all my magazines were delivered on time and without fault - woohoo! And I always love the June issues - so summery and fun. Here's a peek at some (scanned) eye candy:

designer {melissa warner}

I love Melissa Warner's LA apartment - featured in this months House Beautiful. The mix of colors, textures and patterns she's used is very fun and whimsical, yet elegant at the same time. She's part of the design firm Massucco Warner Miller (located in LA, San Fran and Seattle) and this is her LA pied-a-terre. She's only 30 and has had great success - definitely someone to look up to!

how amazing is this cabinet???

Great advice: "Love your closets. Paint them, paper them, hang pictures in them to inspire you. And definitely light them." - MW

house beautiful {march 2010}

The March edition of HB is all about blue. Blue is one of my favorite colors so I was psyched to see this cover in my mailbox...

My favorite images were of the mostly neutral rooms with hints of blue/blue-green in the paint, accessories or tile.

photographer {amy neusinger}

Amy's LA home is featured in the February issue of House Beautiful and one of my favorite images is this one here of her sunroom. The scan didn't come out great - sorry! - but the room is really pretty. I love the photo wall - which includes several images taken by Amy and her assistants - the vintage items (including a Saarinen table not shown here) and the Ochre chandelier, which is an unexpected touch. The room is filled with light and the huge double glass doors open the entire space up to the outdoors.

Check out Amy's online portfolio for more pretty images like these.

southern hospitality

I LOVE designer Ty Larkin's Louisiana home (featured in the Dec/Jan issue of House Beautiful). Some of the furnishings and accessories are a little more traditional than my style, but overall it's a beautiful space.

FAVS:
- the INCREDIBLE French-inspired patio
- the beautiful chevron patterned wood floor in the living room
- the tall ceilings and abundance of architectural details in the molding, french doors, etc...
- the monochromatic kitchen w/ glamorous honed Carrara marble
- the surprising mix of old and new (including the library's zebra rug!)
