pretty little office

Working for two small businesses I'm always thinking about home office and studio design. I think it's so important to create a workspace that motivates you and makes you happy every single day. I love this greek key bordered rug from Ballard and am dying to use it somewhere (although I wish it came in more colors!). I think the mossy green and iron and wood desk create a nice balance with with the brass light fixtures, pink zigzag and tufted loveseat. I picture gorgeous, floor to ceiling, built-in bookshelves and trimmed out pelmet boxes in this pretty little room as well...

yellow+gray inspiration board

I'm obsessing over yellow too - pared with gray and white (and a little bit of navy, because I love it) in my "new" bedroom. I had originally thought about doing a very dreamy palette of soft blues, grays, creams and white, but that feels too boring now. Yellow is anything but, and always cheerful. Here's a little inspiration:

I already have a similar yellow lamp, the Dwell peony pillows for Target, piles of all white bedding, the lovely white Ikea furniture (which I can't wait to replace...) and the rugs. I just need the finishing touches - grosgrain/trim, fabulous art and accessories, etc. - to pull it all together.

a gender-neutral nursery

My sweet friend Kate is having a baby at the end of the month and she and her husband have decided not to find out the sex of the baby beforehand. I don't know if I could do it (I think I might be too much of a control freak...ha) but I think it's exciting that they're keeping it a surprise. I snuck a peek at her nursery and it's a beautiful, buttery yellow, with dark wood furniture, which will transform easily for either a boy or girl. Another color palette that I love incorporates varying shades of green (celadon, chartreuse, apple) with chocolate brown, soft blues and pops of yellow. It's soothing with a touch of whimsy.

Kate - I couldn't be any happier for you... I have no doubt that you will be the most fabulous mommy!

new bedroom draft

I'll be moving in the next couple of months and that means a new bedroom (sadly I never decorated my current bedroom - it's still a plain, white box - so I'm super excited to finally do something to it in my new space). Wherever I end up the plan will be to pull together as many pieces/accessories I already have (for example the bed, dresser and rugs shown here) and mix in a few new things to create a bedroom that's cozy, yet chic, that I won't mind spending a lot of time in (let's be honest - I'll either be in a studio or at my parents house again). This is just a draft, but gives the basic idea of what I'm thinking so far...

sexy little entryways: volume 1

I adore entryways - they are such a fun little space and can really set the tone for an entire home. I fell in love with this pink lantern (via Shelter) and was inspired to pull together a girly, but sophisticated pink and black entryway, with bold, graphic wallpaper and gold accents.

a dreamy bedroom

Decorating my bedroom has been my last priority, but I might be getting a new bed this week (!) so I'm hoping that I will finally be able to make it beautiful. I'm torn in a thousand directions about what to do, but am forever in love with a soothing palette of white, gray and blue:

a baby dress inspired nursery

I posted last week about Khloe's adorable pink and orange zig zag dress and how it could translate into a really cute nursery. Here's a little inspiration:

an outdoor room

We have a tiny shared patio space in the back of our apartment where we keep our grill and a small table and chairs. I haven't been able to put much work/money into it, but I would love to get some potted plants and lanterns so that we can enjoy coffee out there on the weekends or cocktails at night. I can't wait for the day when we have our own house with a huge deck/porch where I can design the most beautiful outdoor room. For now I pulled together a few pretty outdoor pieces, inspired by this gorgeous image (left) from the recent Lonny.
