bedroom progress

I haven't had a chance to do anything fun in my bedroom at my new apartment yet, but when Jill's rugs went up on One King's Lane I had to get one. It's a new pattern and we've been dying to use it for a project at work. Hopefully it will be pretty with my white bedding and the lavender headboard I made before I moved in. Still on the list: a mirror, sheets, shams, throw pillows, lamp shades and art.

a couple new pieces

I have been helping my mom with small decorating projects around the house and convinced her to order this small chandelier and my fave greek key bordered rug from Ballard today. The house I grew up in is a farmhouse, built sometime in the early 1900's. It's very country and so more her taste than mine, but we're trying to find a nice balance of traditional and modern (less red gingham, please!).

pretty little office

Working for two small businesses I'm always thinking about home office and studio design. I think it's so important to create a workspace that motivates you and makes you happy every single day. I love this greek key bordered rug from Ballard and am dying to use it somewhere (although I wish it came in more colors!). I think the mossy green and iron and wood desk create a nice balance with with the brass light fixtures, pink zigzag and tufted loveseat. I picture gorgeous, floor to ceiling, built-in bookshelves and trimmed out pelmet boxes in this pretty little room as well...

portfolio peek {thom filicia}

I was flipping through old Domino's this weekend and stopped short (again) at Thom Filicia's lakeside cabin featured in the August 2008 issue (kitchen image below). Thom is highly recognized for his time spent on Queer Eye for the Straight Guy as well as for his residential projects and the multiple W hotels he has designed (last image below). His home collection is pretty fab - I'm especially loving his new indoor rugs. Here's a quick peek at some images from his portfolio:

brimfield recap + new additions

Our trip out to the Brimfield Antique Show was a lot of fun. I have to say I was a little disappointed with the prices - I thought they were high and not everyone was willing to negotiate. And I didn't see a lot of the little items that I was looking for to update my shop - so I'll need to plan another trip to Maine in the next few of weeks for that. Nonetheless, there was a lot of cool stuff and we did buy a few things - including the side board below which was much needed piece for our dining room!

When I have the time I'm going to give it a fresh coat of paint (maybe a fun color?) and update the hardware.

Pat - so overwhelmed by everything, but trying to stay supportive!!

Herbie.

Cool bentwood chairs that could be awesome with an update.

New (old) side board in our dining room with the yellow lamp I picked up at Homegoods this weekend 50% off! I'm still organizing art etc. so this pic is a work in progress.

Lastly, a zebra rug that I bought at Homegoods (not sure where it's going yet... although I'm kind of enjoying the life it brings to our kitchen) and a galvanized metal bucket and #8 gas station sign (also from Brimfield).

good morning

In exactly one week from today I'll be 25. Is it weird that I'm more excited than I am scared? I'm more confident and definitely wiser than I was at 20... and I sincerely believe the best is yet to come. Have a pretty day!

p.s. I love this rug!!
