cocktail hour {pumpkin martini}

My fabulous boss, Erin, has been hard at work designing a tablescape for a benefit at Shreve, Crump & Low, and tonight I'm attending the preview with her. Her design is gorgeous - very feminine and modern (hint: orange zebra and pearls!) and has me dreaming about Thanksgiving dinner and all things pumpkin and delicious.

pumpkin martini

- 1 oz pumpkin liqueur or pumpkin syrup, plus extra for dipping
- 2 oz vanilla vodka
- 1 oz Sylk cream liqueur
- cinnamon for rimming the glass

Dip a chilled martini glass in the pumpkin liqueur (or syrup) then place the glass rim down into the cinnamon to coat. In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, combine the vanilla vodka, cream liqueur and pumpkin liqueur (or syrup) and shake 15-20 seconds. Strain into rimmed glass and serve.

house beautiful {september 2010}

It's the last weekend in July - I can't believe it! We're heading to the Cape with friends and I can't wait to lounge in the sun, sip drinks, cook s'mores by the fire and relax. Here's a peek at HB's September issue to inspire a little color and creativity in your weekend. See you Monday!

Last, but not least, a fanciful tablescape

inspiration board {pink + white baby shower}

My brother's girlfriend is expecting a baby girl in the next few weeks and this Sunday is the shower. It's a pink and white theme (with tiara's in honor of the little princess!) and we're keeping it simple and inexpensive with a few pink monochromatic flower arrangements for pops of color and pretty pink cupcakes. Here's a little more inspiration:

a modern greenhouse-inspired tea party

I love this image from the late - and oh so lovely - domino magazine. The pinks and greens are really beautiful together and I like how they've mixed painted metal garden chairs with simple glass and wood accessories. Would be SO fun for a late summer afternoon bridal shower or birthday celebration...

Here are a few things that I would pull together - in addition to some pretty garden furniture, tons of pink roses and tall ferns - to re-create the look:

lovely ceramics

How pretty are the designs by this Brooklyn-based artist? I'm especially smitten with these his and her bowls. I like how her pieces are varied, but coordinate well, and would make a beautiful mixed and matched set.
