new obsession

citizen couture is a blog i've just come across and while i'm pretty sure i'm really late on this discovery, it's definitely something i will keep going back to. i really like the layout and the way that the blog often offers multiple images of each person, to present different angles and perspectives on their style. the story of how the blog came about is also pretty amazing as the author, jason jean, is a former tax professional who became a freelance photographer after going partially blind while being diagnosed with juvenile glaucoma. amazing.

look of the day

i came across this picture today in glamour and am completely in love with the way that she mixed a bright, spring-like color with a fur stole. everything just looks so well put together and effortless and the matching lip color is the icing on the cake.

from the runway to the street

every once in a while i get in a funk where i don't feel particularly stylish or inspired and thus the reason for my absence on the blog. one of the reasons why i get excited about fashion week is not because of the beautiful new clothes that come flying down the runway but because of the street style photos that pop up with more frequency and convey a sense of real fashion that anyone can relate to. when i look at these types of photos, i start to think about the items in my closet and how i can work them into a new fresh outfit. when i look at pictures of clothes on the runway, i think of how much i'm going to spend for the next season. it's interesting to look at an outfit on a model in comparison with somewhat of a remixed version of that outfit on someone who may or may not be immersed in the fashion world.
