the darby

when lindsey and i were in nyc, we went to an amazing speakeasy style restaurant and bar hidden beneath a dingy-looking taco and burrito stand. if we hadn't been with a friend who had moved to the city a year ago, we would have never known what kind of chic scene was waiting for us underground. elle has a great article about the darby, a new supper club opening in ny that was created to resemble a descendent of the speakeasies from the prohibition era. there is definitely something to say about these unique restaurants that are become more and more popular as the restaurant scene continually evolves into a more interactive and entertaining experience.

{outdoor} room of the day

This is the incredible patio of Celerie Kemble's 27th-floor apartment on Central Park South in NYC. Not only does it overlook the park, it's like a secret garden oasis floating in the sky. F-ing incredible, right?

{living} room of the day

I still adore Michelle Adams' old NYC apartment. Her small space solutions are genius and I love all the coral accents.

cocktail hour {satc 2)

I'm going to see Sex and the City 2 tonight with my college roommates and although I've heard mixed reviews, I'm excited to spend some time with my girls. I love all the interiors images that have been popping up on the internet and can't wait to see them up on the big screen. In honor of SATC 2, here's a classic Carrie Bradshaw cocktail: the cosmo.

cosmopolitan cocktail

- 1 oz vodka
- 1/2 oz triple sec
- 1/2 oz Rose's lime juice
- 1/2 oz cranberry juice

Shake all ingredients vigorously in a cocktail shaker with ice. Strain into a martini glass and garnish with a thin lime wedge.

american women: fashioning a new identity

it's already time for the 2010 costume institute exhibition and gala and the theme for this year takes a look at american women from 1890-1940 and how these women have influenced perceptions of the modern woman. the exhibit, on display may 5, will have six circular galleries which will display different american archetypes since 1890 using pieces that have not been seen for the past 30 years.

it's been a while...

Since I've stopped by one of my favorite food blogs, Sunday Suppers. I caught up on the posts this morning and am so happy that I did because not only is their food and photography beautiful, I'm in love with this little shop that they featured - Brook Farm General Store. It's a treasure trove of vintage pieces and household items displayed with a simple and clean aesthetic - perfect! Brook Farm will definitely be on my list of places to visit in New York next time I go.

monday morning fashion inspiration

I'm a huge fan of Project Runway and love to see one of the winning designers making a big impact at this fall's fashion week. Christian Siriano is known for his quirky style, but it's clear from viewing his spring 2010 ready-to-wear collection that he can do smart and sophisticated too.

LOVE the gradation of color here... great source of inspiration

this print was created using an aerial photograph of the italian coastline

the line also has several elegant, draped pieces in varying neutrals
